We were asked to renovate a small apartment in the center of Athens.
The apartment was old and the space was relatively small.
With the owner’s agreement, we decided to play with textures and patterns of coverings that refer to Japanese aesthetics.
Initially, we chose a palette of earthy shapes and colors that give emphasis to the volume of the surfaces but mainly define clearly the need of separate functions in such a small space.
In addition, we designed a multi-functional bookcase which would also play the role of a lighting fixture in the space as the semi-transparent membrane used to cover the square frames on its doors allows hidden lighting to diffuse into the space.
Finally, the metal frame used in the opening between the kitchen and living room space, gives an additional sense of luxury and creates a modern aesthetic style.
