“Dance is architecture in complete abstraction. It is made without real materials, yet it is a living example of the creation of sacred space where aesthetics can be experienced. Dance is a living sculpture and the dancer is the creator of sacred space with temporal and spatial parameters.”
The purpose of this book is to explore the relationship between architecture and contemporary dance.
The image of a space is both practically and psychologically real. Dance maximizes the possibility of exploring this space, expanding its structural possibilities to the fullest, resulting in the formation of this space in an infinite combination of possibilities.
This book mainly concerned with the sense of space through bodily experience, discovers architectural relationships between the body and the building.
The body will explore space, discovering, unfolding and challenging its possibilities. In its desire to move, we will experience the solids, the compacts, the cavities, and the densities of our physical selves. Dancers, through the sense of touch, will perceive the dimensions of space, its scale, its textures and its volumes. They will feel its properties, an experience almost new to architecture, with the aim of revising the architect’s contact with space and the environment.
